Drafting. Research. Filings. Built on Birmingham legal-industry experience and reserved for licensed Alabama attorneys.
My name is Malia Broxson, a Senior Paralegal in Birmingham, Alabama. M Broxson Legal is my contract paralegal practice supporting solo practitioners and small firms with overflow drafting, research, filing, and case management.
My day job is at Elizabeth Hunter Law Firm, a Birmingham criminal defense practice, where I work across multiple court levels and Alabama counties. Through M Broxson Legal, I take on contract engagements that span criminal defense, family law, and personal injury, with experience in both state and federal courts and appellate work in criminal and civil matters. All contract work is performed outside my regular employment with appropriate attorney supervision and full conflict-of-interest review.
You get a Senior Paralegal who actually understands what attorneys need. Fast turnaround. Clean drafting. Accurate filings. Discretion with every case file. That is the standard I bring to my day job and the standard I bring to every contract engagement.
Contract paralegal experience across three primary practice areas, with state and federal court filing experience and appellate work in both criminal and civil matters.
State and federal criminal defense work including motions, sentencing memoranda, bond and bail matters, and appellate filings.
Custody matters, divorce filings, contempt proceedings, and family court case support across Alabama jurisdictions.
Case management, discovery support, medical records organization, and pre-litigation work for personal injury matters.
State courts via AlaFile and federal courts via PACER and CM-ECF. Multi-county filing experience.
Appellate work in both criminal and civil matters, including briefs and petitions for writ of mandamus.
Each engagement is shaped around your firm's needs. The services below reflect my training and capacity for ongoing contract work.

Drafting client correspondence, scheduling consultations, and managing routine client communications under your supervision.

I can plug into most firm workflows without additional training time on your end.

Contract paralegal work requires clear ethical boundaries. Here is how I handle every engagement.
All work is performed under the direction and supervision of the engaging attorney. I do not provide legal advice, sign legal documents on behalf of clients, or hold myself out as an attorney.
Every engagement begins with a conflict check against my current employer's active client list. I will not accept matters that conflict with Elizabeth Hunter Law Firm clients or active opposing parties.
I treat every case file with strict confidentiality. Client information is never discussed outside of the engagement. Work product is secured on dedicated systems separate from my day-job workflows.
Services are provided exclusively to licensed Alabama attorneys. I do not market paralegal services directly to consumers, draft documents for clients without attorney supervision, or provide legal advice in any form.
I also operate M Broxson Notary, providing mobile notary, loan signing, apostille, fingerprinting, and wedding officiant services across the Birmingham metro. Available for attorney-referred clients and firm document needs.
